ABOUT THE EVENT

The Powerfit Games is an online athletic competition open to every individual interested in participating.  Actually, it’s the first athletic competition open to everyone on an equal playing field, and we all have the opportunity to win some of the over $20,000 in cash and prizes given away by the Powerfit Games this year.

What are the Powerfit Games?

These games were designed to challenge athletes of all backgrounds without favoring certain sports, training methods or specific experience.  While the types of maneuvers that the games will test are varied, you can be certain that they are not specific to a single sport (handstand walks…how often do non-gymnasts train handstand walks?).  Rather, each maneuver is cross-trained throughout a variety of sports and fitness activities with no emphasis on any single sport or type of athlete.

We are testing athletes with moves that we have all done before—tried and true—only we’re looking for the best of the best.

You can be sure NOT to see the following on any of the workouts: power lifting, 1-rep max lifting, Olympic lifting and advanced gymnastics (sorry gymnasts, but we encourage you to still compete!).  The Powerfit Games is for everyone, a competition that turns traditional exercises into challenging routines to find out which athlete really has it.

The playing field is now leveled.  All athletes are in the metaphorical same gym, field and arena.  Let’s see who can take home the gold—and $5,000.

The Powerfit Games is an online competition; however, all participants have the opportunity to work out (for free!) at our weekly assigned gym.  These gyms will be fully prepared with judges and equipment to test the athletic abilities, toughness, endurance, strength and grit of each competitor for that specified weekly workout.  After five weeks of preliminary workouts, the top 100 participants are asked to join the finals to compete for the top spot.

The Powerfit Games allows athletes to show off their skills multiple times each year, so if you struggled to make the finals or you did not finished where you wanted to finish, in six months, you will have a chance to do it again!

Remember, because we think this competition is awesome, we are giving away over $20,000 in total cash prizes!

How does it work?

Powerfit Games begins October 6th with at five-week online, on-site competition. All five workouts for the 2014 Powerfit Games will be released September 29th to give athletes time to practice and prepare to the competitions–just like athletes do in all sporting competitions.

Athletes will have a specified one-week time span to complete the designated workout and submit their scores.

Athletes may sign up to complete the workout in person by visiting one of our five on-site competition locations.  Those who complete the workout at one of our host gyms WILL NOT have to submit a video of their workout because we will have judges present to verify the workout completion.  Our on-site gyms will host each Saturday during the five weeks of competition.  Those who do not wish to (or cannot) workout at our on-site gyms on the day of hosting must submit a clear video of each completed workout.
