ABOUT THE EVENT

Each participant will receive a meet shirt

Spectators: There is no cost for entry to watch the event, however we will be taking canned food donations for the local food shelter.

Online Registration will close on Friday, November 14 at 11:30 p.m. No late entries or on-site registration will be accepted.

This will be one of the first Olympic Weightlifting meet in the Southern Illinois area. It will not be USAW sanctioned, so you do not have to worry about having a membership. Lifts to be contested are the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, in that order, accoring to IWF rules, with a few minor changes. Due to available equipment, we will be figuring everything in pounds. Also, singlets will not be required, but recommended. You may wear what you would like, as long as it doesn’t give an unfair advantage or prevent judges from clearly evaluating the lifts. Elbow wraps and lifting straps will not be allowed.

Regular weight classes will be utilized, meaning that there are 8 classes for males and 7 for women. Please note that any lifter who fails to make the bodyweight of the category, in which he or she is officially entered, will be allowed to participate, but will be excluded from the actual competition. These classes are as follows.

Men’s Weight Classes:

Session 1

  • 123 lb
  • 137 lb
  • 152 lb
  • 170 lb

Session 2

  • 187 lb
  • 207 lb
  • 231 lb
  • Over 231 lb

Women’s Weight Classes:

Session 1

  • 106 lb
  • 117 lb
  • 128 lb
  • 139 lb

Session 2

  • 152 lb
  • 165 lb
  • Over 165 lb

Weigh-ins will begin at 7 a.m. Athletes may weigh-in at anytime during their appointed session, but all contestants must be weighed in 30 minutes prior to the start of their session. Again, all athletes must weigh within their class limit. (i.e. A male contestant in the 187 lb class must weigh between 170.1-187 lbs.) An official scheudle will be released regarding weigh-ins, session times, etc. closer to date.
